As the owner of Europe’s leading chip factory for MR microsystems, we are your experienced partner. Our chips are electrically and magnetically tested and selected, supplied either as sawn wafers on foil or sorted in waffle packs. We also offer services such as thin-film technology and MR sensor technology. From coating for 5″ wafers to fine structuring (≤0.2 µm structure width), you receive customized manufacturing services of the highest quality, supported by state-of-the-art plasma technology, microlithography and microplating.
Within system production, the complete production process for sensor systems, consisting of sensor, sensor electronics and magnetic scaling, is covered from the prototype with a high proportion of manual assembly through to series production on automatic production systems.
The following processes are available for this purpose:
Magnetic scales are used in conjunction with our sensors to measure angles and distances with high resolution and accuracy. These measuring scales are alternately magnetized with oppositely polarized poles (north and south pole).
Linear scales are manufactured in lengths from < 1 cm to several metres or as pole rings in different diameters to suit the respective measuring task. The pole lengths between 0.5 mm and 10 mm are magnetized with high precision using a patented magnetization process.
In addition to the classic incremental magnetizations, various codings and multiple tracks are also possible, for example to produce measuring scales for absolute measuring systems.
For standard applications, the measuring scales are made of flexible plastic material with embedded ferrite powder. For higher accuracies and with a view to thermal behavior, measuring scales made of ceramic material are also used.
Depending on the respective task, the measuring standards are often coordinated with the user and thus optimally adapted to the measuring task.
Sensitec’s IP portfolio is protected by well over 60 patents for magnetoresistive sensors. Many solutions on the market, including those of competitors, are based on Sensitec IP rights and testify to the company’s high level of innovation.
We use extensive FEM simulations to ensure the electrical functionality of a sensor design. This ensures that the “first silicon” is electrically fault-free and unnecessary redesigns are avoided.
To ensure the magnetic functionality, we use specially developed simulation tools for the magnetic behavior of the sensors. We have an extensive model library for both AMR and GMR coating systems.
The test laboratory integrated into the development process allows new sensor designs to be tested quickly.
The mechanical design of the test stands and the corresponding test algorithms are based on the many years of experience of our engineers and scientists.
Sensitec not only offers MR sensor components, but also a wide range of evaluation concepts in the form of sensor modules for signal processing. The comprehensive expertise in electronics and hardware-related software development enables the realization of optimally adapted sensor systems. By using ASICs, proven evaluation ICs and other electronic components, as well as Spice and FEM simulations, the electronic design is perfected. Sensor modules are conceptualized, simulated, manufactured and evaluated in accordance with customer requirements and design rules.
The result is not only customized solutions, but also standard modules that can be integrated cost-effectively and easily into your own applications. Measuring standards in conjunction with sensors are manufactured using patented magnetization processes, whereby various codings and tracks for absolute measuring systems are possible. The measuring standards range from <1 cm to several meters, in the form of linear scales or pole rings. These can be made of flexible plastic material or ceramic material for higher accuracies. Customization is carried out in close consultation with the user to ensure an optimum solution for the respective measuring task.
Sensitec uses the newest CAD tools for the development of both our catalog products and customer-specific variants.
We use the Solid Works® package for mechanical designs. Parametric modeling allows us to make changes or adaptations quickly.
We can provide 3D CAD files of our products in various formats to save our customers time and effort in the mechanical design of new systems.
